Peshawar and Mardan are known as
bulk grower areas of Sugar crop i.e.
Sugarcane and Sugar Beet. However,
due to completion of Chashama Right
Bank Canal the production of Sugarcane
in D. I. Khan district has also increased
considerably. The sugarcane crushing
season usually starts in November
and ends in March each year subject
to availability of Sugarcane. Similarly,
sugar beet slicing starts from mid
may and goes up to the end of June
each year. This however, depends on
the availability of Sugar beet.
