"Present government is taking steps for promotion of sports and culture in the society – Minister for Law "

 

The NWFP Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Barrister Arshid Abdullah has said that the present government is taking positive steps for the promotion of sports and culture in the society. He said, the government would establish stadium at every Tehsil and district on the available government land.

 

He was addressing the closing ceremony of district level sports festival, held last night at Utmanzai Sports Complex, District Charsadda. The festival was participated by different teams of various games from the whole district. The Minister said sports could play an important role in promoting healthy activities, besides changing the behavior of youngster in right direction. He also directed the districts sports officers Charsadda to identity government land at Shabqadar, Tangi and Charsadda for construction of sports complex.

"Operation “Sirat-i-Mustaqeem” against miscreants in Khyber Agency has entered 7the day with law enforcement agencies alongwith political administration advancing as planned."

 

The ongoing operation "Sirat-i-Mustaqeem" against the miscreants in Khyber Agency has entered the 7th day with Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) alongwith the political administration advancing as planned. According to a handout of Media Cell FATA Secretariat Peshawar issued today; curfew imposed at Bara Sub Division since June 28, 2008 has been relaxed. However, ban on the display of arms and the provisions of section 38 of the Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR) would remain in force till further orders. During search of the area, the law enforcement agencies unearthed two sub jails one at Alam Gudar and the other at Kohi. The law enforcement agencies are patrolling the area and routne checkpoints/nakabandis at various points are intact. The 18 member Jirga of tribal elders/maliks is busy at Tirah for negotiating the conditions with the concerned elements put forth by the government. Till now, 92 persons have been arrested. No untoward incident has been reported today.

"Capital City Police officer Peshawar has order to ban & prohibit arms & ammunition and no vehicle of tinted glasses shall enter in district Peshawar"

 

Due to prevailing situation of District Peshawar and successful operation against the miscreants in the adjacent tribal area, the Capital City Police Officer Peshawar has ordered to ban  and prohibit, under the power vested under articles 118/122 of the Police Order 2002 that no person will carry any sort of arms and ammunitions or any other articles which is capable of being used for physical violence or he carrying of any of explosive substance or any other instruments which is in danger to human life and public property and no vehicle of tinted glasses shall enter and should not drive in the limits of Peshawar for the sake of security. The NWFP Governor, Mr. Owais Ahmed Ghani is considering to hold a broad based conference to discuss the current law and order situation, coupled with the issue of militancy, being experienced both in the province and FATA, to leading personalities from all shades of society, including the political parties, scholars, ulama, and senior citizens will be invited. A vigorous special polio eradication campaign has been initiated in the central districts of the province and some tribal agencies with a target to vaccinate 4.3 million children of below 5 years. Polio mainly affects children under five years of age.

Similar special drive will be kicked up in southern districts and tribal agencies from 8th of this month to wipeout polio virus from the entire region.

Dr. Abdo Gul, EPI Coordinator District Peshawar told the media team that 1750 teams would provide anti polio drops to 7,42,000 children of blow five years of age in the district. "22 Campaign Support Persons (CSPs), 04 District Support Persons (DSPs), 06 DHMT and 297 area supervisors will supervise the campaign, the Coordinator ascertained.

He NWFP Minister for Population Welfare Mr. Saleem Khan has said that the use of drugs in society and especially among the young generation has become a challenge for the whole world which needs to be addressed seriously both individually and collectively.

He expressed these views while addressing as chief guest, a function in connection with International Day against Drug abuse and Illicit Trafficking organized by DOST Welfare Foundation in Peshawar , the other day.

The use of Drugs by an individual not only affects his own life but also his family and the whole society giving birth to many social evils, the Minister said.

The Minister said that we shold avoid and hate the drugs and not the addicts.
