Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia at Islamabad, Mr. Ishak Latuconsina called on the NWFP Governor Mr. Owais  Ahmed Ghani at Governor’s House, Peshawar on Tuesday.

They remained with the Governor for some time and discussed matters of mutual interest with special reference to the geo-political situation in the region. #

A joint delegation of elected representatives of Kohat and Hangu districts and Kurram and Orakzai agencies called on the NWFP Governor, Mr. Owais Ahmed Ghani at Governor’s House Peshawar on Tuesday.

The delegation was comprised of MNAs, Pir Haider Ali Shah, who is also Parliamentary Secretary for Industries & Production, Pir Dilwar Shah, Mr. Sajid Hussain Tori and Syed Jawad Hussain as well as MPAs, Dr. Iqbal Fana and Syed Qalb-e-Hassan while besides the Secretary to Governor, Mr. Sikandar Qayyum, the Acting Vice Chancellor of Kohat University of Science and Technology, Prof. Dr. Shafique Rehman and the Principal of Kohat Medical Institute, Dr. Saleem Khattak were also present on this occasion.

The NWFP Minister for Food, Muhammad Shuja Khan here Tuesday has disclosed that approximately three lac ton of wheat would be procured during the coming season across the province, directing the concerned authorities that no leniency would be tolerated in this regard.

            He was speaking the participants of a meeting convened to discuss and review the new wheat crop procurement methodology by the food department. Secretary Food and Director Food also attended the meeting.

            The meeting reviewed at length the previous, current and future strategy about the production of wheat crop. The provincial minister, on this occasion, directed the concerned authorities of food department to ensure supply of wheat immediately to the district chitral just after opening of Lowari Top.

The result of Diploma of Associate Engineers Supplementary Examination 2009 and Annual Examination 2009 (Ist and 2nd Year Regular candidates from Malakand Division) conducted by the Board of Technical Edcuation Peshawar with effect from  4-11-2009 to 4-1-2010 was declared today the 9-3-2010. As many as 8483 candidates appeared in the Ist, 2nd and 3rd year examination. Out of these 4597 candidates have been declared successful and thus the passing percentage is 55%.

The competent authority has allowed Additional Secretary Higher Education Department to hold additional charge of the post of Chairman, Higher Education Regulatory Authority (HERA) in addition to his own duties with immediate effect till further orders and to relieve Humayun Zia, Chairman (HERA) whose tenure has been completed on 6-3-2010, says a notification issued here by the Higher Education Department NWFP.

The visiting special representative of the British Foreign Secretary for Afghanistan and Pakistan Sir Sherard  couuper accompanied by High Commissioner at Islamabad Mr. Adam Thomson called on the NWFP Governor Mr. Owais Ahmed Ghani at Frontier House Islamabad on Tuesday afternoon. Chief Minister NWFP Ameer Haider Khan Hoti has approved Rs. 0.360 million for conducting feasibility study and designing of a bridge on Narangi Nullah at Kalu Khan, District Swabi.

The feasibility study and designing of the scheme will be carried out during the current financial year (2009-10) as a non-ADP scheme while the reconstruction work of the bridge will be included in the next year ADP. The scheme will be completed at a total cost of Rs. 36.570 million.

It may be mentioned here that the Chief Minister, during his visit to the flood affected area of District Swabi, had directed for early reconstruction of the bridge that was damaged due to heavy flood in August last.

The Federal Minister for Environment, Mr. Hamidullah Jan Afridi called on the NWFP Governor, Mr. Owais Ahmed Ghani at Governor’s House, Peshawar on Saturday.

Mr. Hamidullah Jan Afridi who is MNA from Khyber Agency, remained with the Governor for some time and discussed matters pertaining to bringing normalization in the area in wake of successes of the security forces against militants in tehsil Bara of the Agency.

Talking on this occasion, the Governor said, an encouraging situation is emerging, wherein, the concerns of the law abiding citizens will be addressed amicably. He expressed the hope that the business activities as well as the educational institution in Tehsil Bara will be opened in near future.

The NWFP Governor, Mr. Owais Ahmed Ghani has said, quality in education, technological advancement and the knowledge, being imparted in educational institutions is must not only for socio-economic uplift of the people but even for our survival as a nation amongst the comity of nations.

He was talking to a group of researchers and scholars of various public and private educational institutions who have been adjudged as the best ones through a two rounds process of competitions conducted by the provincial Department of Science and Technology and Information Technology which was spread over two and half year process and called on him at Governor’s House, Peshawar.  The Chairman of Academia-Industry-Government-Roundtable, Engineer Zahid Arif and the provincial Director, Science and Technology, Mr. Khalid Khan were also present on this occasion.

A signing ceremony of leasing STC’s Nathiagali Chalet’s site was held here at Qayum Sports Complex Peshawar. Managing Director, Sarhad Tourism Corporation (STC) Azam Khan who is also Commissioner Peshawar and Mr. Zafar, MD Red Onion Rawalpindi, a private firm signed the agreement. NWFP Minister for Tourism, Archives, Culture and Sports, Syed Aqil Shah was also present on the occasion. The lease was given to the firm for 30 years with an amount of 202.6 million rupees.

The Senate of University of Peshawar, met under the chairmanship of NWFP Governor, Mr. Owais Ahmed Ghani at Governor’s House, Peshawar, has in principally approved more concrete policy to eliminate chances of plagiarism, introduce more sophisticated system to identify any malpractice in this respect and ensure upholding of moral values to achieve the desired standard of research studies.

Political Administration Khyber Agency has completed a number of community welfare schemes which will benefit large number of communities in various far flung areas in each tehsil of Khyber Agency.

The irrigation channels have been rehabilitated for the community of Qaiser Kili and Karna Khel Kili Ghundai Malik Din Khel area in Bara of Khyber Agency.

Press Release issued from Fata Media Cell said that these schemes will benefit 21000 individuals of these areas. The political administration rehabilitated irrigation channel of 6577 meter length. These schemes are executed by local implementer in coordination with the political administration.

The NWFP Minister for Tourism, Culture, Archives and Sports Syed Aqil Shah has said that God Almighty has bestowed Pakistan with a number of natural scenes, archaeological and tourist sites. He said no other country in the world had such marvelous and worth seeing places, lakes and valleys as were in Pakistan. He said complete peace had been brought in Swat therefore national and international tourists should visit Swat for enjoying themselves.

He expressed these views while addressing as chief guest at the annual exhibition of Hiking Club, Khyber Medical College Peshawar on Monday. Vice Principal of the College Prof. Dr. Zahid Hussain Khalil, Hiking Club’s Chairman Dr. Jamilur Rehman, General Secretary Shujaat Hussain Baltistani and other members of the club were also present on the occasion.

The 3rd meeting of steering committee of FATA Development Authority was held under the chairmanship of the NWFP Governor Mr. Owais Ahmed Ghani here at Governor’s House on Friday. The NWFP Governor, Mr. Owais Ahmed Ghani has strongly condemned the suicide bomb attack in Tehsil Tall of District Hangu on Friday and expressed his deep shock and sorrow over the loss of precious lives. He has described the incident a highly cowardly act of terrorism.   “This gruesome act on the sacred day, wherein even women and children have been hit, itself speaks the retrogressive mindset of the elements, involved”, he added.

The NWFP Minister for Excise and Taxation Liaqat Shabab has directed all the Executive Officers of Federal and Provincial Departments of District Nowshera to complete the ongoing developmental schemes, well in time and remove the existing hurdles in these schemes and improve their performance so as to provide the basic amenities of life and service delivery to the dwellers of the district at their door steps.

NWFP Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Sardar Hussain Babak has said that Pukhtoonkhwa being the frontline province in the war against terror paid a heavy price viz-a-viz ruined infrastructure, destroyed school and college buildings, particularly in the worst affected Malakand Division. He in this connection called upon the international community to come forward and supplement government’s efforts for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of ruined infrastructure and economy.

This he said while addressing at a seminar on “The Role of society in terrorism” jointly organized by Pak-British Community under “Connecting Classrooms Project” at Gateway School – College, Turk in England the other day. It merits a mention here that Provincial Education Minister is currently on an official trip of England to solicit the support of international community to boost rehabilitation activities in the province.

According to a circular issued here by the Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education Peshawar, a Control Room is being established in the Board Office with a view to look into the needs of the public, the supervisory staff and the students community. Following the decrease in petroleum products prices, the Provincial Transport Authority NWFP has revised the fares of various vehicles plying on inter provincial, intra city routes and has directed all the secretaries of the Regional Transport Authorities in the province to implement the new fares on their respective jurisdiction. They have further been directed to display the new fare tables at visible places in General Bus Stands at their jurisdiction and inside passengers vehicles for information of the transporters and  passengers while the violating transporters, drivers may be brought to book under intimation to the office of the PTA.

The Provincial Govt has decided to conduct transparent and impartial inquiry of the funds utilization of the former Nazims at District, Tehsil and Union Council level while necessary directives have been issued to all the DCOs to submit fact finding reports to the Govt: in this regard.

This was announced by the NWFP Senior Minister and Parliamentary leader of ANP Bashir Ahmad Blor while chairing a meeting of the DCOs and District Administrators of all over the province at Civil Secretariat Peshawar on Thursday. It was also attended by Secretary LG and RD Orangzeb Khan, Secretary LCB Rahmat Ghazi, DG, LG and RD Haji Abdul Jalil and other authorities. On this occasion the senior minister gave guide lines to the DCOs as District Municipal Administrators and the problems faced by them in this respect.

Taking strict action on public complaints registered regarding encroachments, over-charging and adulteration etc, committees at Town level were constituted by District Coordination Officer, Peshawar to carry out special campaign. The committees were asked to submit a report within a week time positively for onward communication to the provincial government.

Campaign for removal of encroachments on circular road was jointly launched by the TMA Town-I and Peshawar Development Authority. As a result major position of the circular road was cleared by demolishing the houses required for widening of the road and debris removed. The operation for the removal of encroachments/debris is in progress.

The Provincial Government has extended the grace period for the renewal of arms licenses upto March 31, 2010 to facilitate the holders of arms licenses.

The NWFP Governor, Mr. Owais Ahmed Ghani, while appreciating timely response of the NWFP Branch of Pakistan Red Crescent Society in reaching to the affected people of Bagro Dara of Kohistan who have been badly suffering because of avalanche recently and providing them immediate health coverage, has expressed the hope that it will maintain the standards.

Former District Councilor Sahib Singh and other Sikh and minority representatives also accompanied him.

NWFP Minister for Population Welfare Saleem Khan has stressed the need of coordinated and well planned efforts of the concerned government departments and NGOs to achieve the desired goals of stabilized population; adding that it is high time to formulate a working relation and coordination policy at federal, provincial and district level to streamline the efforts of  all the concerned government departments and NGOs so that these efforts cold be made result oriented.
