In the supreme interest of the nation, to improve
the economic well being of the peasantry making
agriculture a profitable vocation and to ensure
equitable distribution of wealth and economic
power, the Government introduced in the year,
1959 Martial Law Regulation-54 in the year 1972,
another MLR-115 was issued while in the year
1977, Land Reforms Act-II was promulgated.
In all the two Martial Law regulations, the
ceiling on individual’s holdings was fixed.
For carrying out the purposes of these regulations
Land Commission has been constituted of which
the Chief Minister is the chairman and senior
member Board of Revenue being active member
of the commission is Chief Land Commissioner.
