Introduction
The ST&IT Department
has been established on 2nd October, 2002
to goad Research in the field of Science and
Information Technology and introduce the concept
of digitalization in the Province.
The Department carries its main concept with
the idea to:
Improve the research activities in Institutions.
Utilize Information Technology for public
benefit.
Introduce Information Technology in Educational
Institutions.
Advise Government Departments on IT use.
Scrutinize and monitor IT projects.
Guide the province in the modern era of Information
Technology.
The Department consists of a Secretariat headed
by a Secretary, and two Directorates; the
Information Technology Directorate and the
Science and Technology Directorate. The later
has yet to be activated.
The Department of Science and Technology
& Information Technology is assisting
Schools and Literacy Department for equipping
schools and related educational institutions
with computer labs and necessary accessories,
it is also assisting other departments for
digitalization and computerization.
