Introduction
The S&L Department in general and
the students/parents in particular are
suffering due to shortage of Science
teachers especially in the far-flung
pockets of rural areas of NWFP. Since
recruitment/appointment of teachers
is a cumbersome procedure and the deficiencies
needed to be fulfilled take years, so
for that matter, the scheme of “Virtual
Teacher for Schools in NWFP” has
been developed. |

quality teaching-learning process with
the help of IT based applications. |

Improve the quality of education. |

Provide standardized teaching-learning
materials to all 202 secondary and higher
secondary stools in NWFP. |

Enhance teaching capabilities of the teaching
staff to resolve problem of posting/transfer
of science teachers in remote areas. |

Ensure uniform quality education. |
|
Provide employment opportunities to the
computer professionals. |
|
To promote low cost, effective, and quality education in all parts of the province. |
|
To recruit 48 properly qualified staff in selected secondary schools of NWFP for providing assistance in quality education. |
|
To equip 48 secondary schools with the computers /Multimedia infrastructure and provision of (for Schools in NWFP) Teacher CD’s of Math, Physics and Chemistry in pilot phase. |
|
To raise the standard of teaching in Government Schools. |
The
Project was practically launched in
April, 2005 after release of Rs. 1.500
Millions by Finance Department NWFP
for the first half of financial year
2005-06. Since total allocation for
the current year was Rs. 3.000 Millions,
rest of Rs. 1.500 Millions has also
been released by finance Department
for second half of the financial year.
The tenders were floated in the leading
National Dailies for the Software application
on 15th December 2005. The tenders received
in the Directorate of IT, NWFP had been
opened on 03-01-2006. Similarly, advertisement
for recruitment of project staff has
been floated in the news papers. The
applications received in the Directorate
are scrutinized and call letters issued
accordingly.
The multimedia CD's for class 9th and 10th has been developed and now in testing phase. The CD's have been provided to all 48 selected secondary and higher secondary schools on NWFP.
48 Selected LABS have been established in secondary and higher secondary schools of NWFP and all equipment including computers, multimedia operator have been provided to the schools.
